
Dr Mohan Rathnaiah
Dr Mohan Rathnaiah is an accomplished consultant psychiatrist specialising in liaison psychiatry and neuropsychiatry, with clinical bases in both London and Nottingham. His expertise spans a broad spectrum of mental health conditions, including psychosis, bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, dementia and cognitive assessment, sleep disorders, adult autism and neurodivergence, as well as impulsive–compulsive spectrum disorders. He is highly experienced in neuropsychiatric approaches to diagnosis and treatment and has significant past experience in old age psychiatry, including work as a Locum Consultant.

Dr Rathnaiah offers private consultations at The Brain Health Clinic in London—one of the leading clinics for neuropsychiatry—as well as at The Consulting Rooms in Nottingham.

He completed his medical degree at Government Medical College, Mysore, in 2001 and went on to work in several leading hospitals in India before relocating to the UK. His early NHS roles included senior house officer positions in West Kent NHS and Social Care Trust, followed by the completion of a Diploma in Mental Health at Queen’s University Belfast. In 2010, he was awarded MRCPsych by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Rathnaiah has built an extensive research portfolio. His published work, both in the UK and India, includes studies on classical schizophrenia deficits, workplace stress, and postnatal depression. He is particularly committed to research that meaningfully enhances patient outcomes. He currently serves as the main coordinator and medical lead for Nottingham’s SPRING study—an investigation into psychosis and the role of inflammation and GABA/Glutamate pathways—reflecting his strong interest in advancing neurobiological understanding to improve clinical care.
